Keyboard - Pianist Cumbria

Performing as a Pianist in Cumbria

My name is Eugene Portman and my work as a pianist in Cumbria is definitely on the rise. This is a beautiful part of the country and has many wonderful venues. Because of this, the area is very popular with couples wanting to have their wedding in a rural setting.

I have played the piano in many of the county’s great venues and I look forward to doing much more in the future.

The Music

For a long time, nearly all my work in the Cumbria region was as a jazz pianist. This has changed over the last few years, as I have been booked for so many weddings. Just for your information, weddings demand that I have to be versatile in what I play. In order to provide music for weddings, I have to be able to play different genres of music for the various parts of the wedding day. For instance, classical music is a popular choice for the ceremony, while jazz seems to be the in-thing for drinks receptions. over the years I have learned to play many styles of music including pop, rock, Latin, classical, and singalong.

My Work as a Sing-along Pianist in Cumbria

There has been a recent trend to book me as a sing-along pianist, especially in the Cumbria region. This sort of thing goes down really well at informal parties and events. However, I have noticed that more and more weddings are featuring a singalong as part of the proceedings.

When I do a singalong evening I provide all the song sheets and dress in typical Cockney pianist attire. This consists of Bowler hat, waistcoat, grandad shirt, neckerchief, pocket watch, etc.

Please see the page HERE for more information. Alternatively, please visit www.uksingalongpianist.co.uk and find out where I am performing as a singalong pianist in Cumbria next.

Line-ups

Cumbria gives me a lot of work as a solo pianist, but I can provide larger line-ups. These range from duos and trios right up to a five-piece jazz band. Here is a full list of the line-ups I provide:

a) Duo – piano and vocals or piano and bass
b) Trio – piano, bass and vocals or piano, bass and drums
c) Quartet – piano, bass, drums and vocals or piano, bass, drums and sax
d) Five Piece Jazz Band – piano, bass, drums, sax and vocals

Whether you book me as a solo jazz pianist or the full jazz band, you will find that I try and make the music have a feel-good quality. This quality makes the music sit comfortably in any situation, adding sparkle to your event without drowning conversation.
