My Work as a Pianist in Cheshire
My name is Eugene Portman and Cheshire provides me with a lot of work as a pianist. I think the area is often neglected as a tourist area, but the county has much to offer. In fact, the region offers a wide range of venues for all types of events. Firstly we have historic and unusual buildings such as Rookery Hall in Crewe and The Belle Epoque in Knutsford. Then we have the more modern venues such as the Abode in Chester and Daresbury Park Hotel in Warrington. This vast array of venues in the area takes the headache out organising a party or wedding.
I am continually being hired in the area as a pianist for all types of events including weddings, parties, and corporate events.
The Music
Although I am booked for all types of events, most of my work in Cheshire is as a wedding pianist. In order to provide music for weddings, I have to be versatile and play all types of music so that music can be provided for any part of the day. Fortunately, I can play many other genres of music including pop, rock, classical, Latin, blues, and even sing-along.
I have always been keen on jazz and it has become my main speciality. I play songs made famous by Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and many other similar artists. My younger days were spent listening to Oscar Peterson, Erroll Garner, George Shearing and Teddy Wilson. Furthermore, the recordings of these pianists have formed the backbone of my own keyboard style.
My Work as a Singalong Pianist in Cheshire
Trends change and there has been a very recent one to book me as a sing-along pianist in the Cheshire area. This is often for Cockney themed events, but a good old sing-song often goes down really well at quite formal events and even some weddings. This trend started around the London area and has spread throughout the UK to Cheshire and beyond.
When booking me as a sing-along pianist all you have to provide is some enthusiastic singers and I will do all the rest. Also, I can provide all the song sheets and I can come dressed as a Cockney to add a bit of authenticity to your event. This attire consists of a Bowler hat, waistcoat, red neckerchief, grandad shirt, Albert chain, and pocket watch, etc.

Line-ups
Cheshire gives me a lot of work both as a solo pianist and also as an ensemble musician. I regularly provide line-ups ranging from just a duo, right up to a five-piece jazz band. The full band consists of piano, bass, drums, vocals, and sax. I use the very best musicians so that you can be assured that the music will be the highest quality I can achieve.
