Performing as a Pianist in Bedfordshire.
My name is Eugene Portman and I work as a pianist in the Bedfordshire quite often. The area isn’t often thought of as a wedding destination, but there are some wonderful venues and some real beauty spots. The venues range from lovely old pubs and restaurants to luxury hotels.
Throughout the year I play the piano for quite a number of weddings and events in the Bedfordshire area. In addition to all the events, I always look forward to just visiting the area.
The Music
I specialise in jazz and swing and my own personal style has developed through listening the keyboard legends of the past. My influences are Oscar Peterson, Teddy Wilson, Erroll Garner, and Bill Evans. I play the great standards from the “Great American Song Book”. These songs have been made famous by such artists as Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Jack Jones.
Although I specialise in jazz, I have to be able to adapt to different genres of music for all the weddings that this district provides. I also play a lot of other styles such as Latin, blues, pop, rock, classical and even sing-along.
My Work as a Sing-along Pianist in Bedfordshire
Recently I have found a new demand for me as a sing-along pianist and Bedfordshire seems to be a key area for this sort of thing. This sort of music goes down well at Peaky Blinders theme evening, Cockney nights and Wartime celebrations. For these events, I provide all the song sheets and dress like a typical old fashioned Cockney pianist. This includes Bowler hat, red neckerchief, grandad shirt, waistcoat, pocket watch, etc. I also provide all the song sheets so that all you have to provide some enthusiastic singers.

Line-ups
I perform throughout Bedfordshire mainly as a solo pianist, but I can also provide other line-ups. These line-ups range from various duo combinations right up to a five-piece jazz band. The musicians I use are of the highest calibre so there is a very good chance of a first-rate performance even with the larger line-ups.
Whether you book me as a solo jazz pianist or the full jazz band, you will find that I try and make the music have a feel-good quality. This quality makes the music sit comfortably in any situation, adding sparkle to your event without drowning conversation.
