Keyboard - Pianist Gloucestershire

Performing as a Pianist in Gloucestershire

My name is Eugene Portman and like many other pianists, I love to work in Gloucestershire. This is because the area is picturesque and secondly there are many wonderful venues. These venues range from Castles and other historic buildings to hotels and country pubs.

Luckily for me, I play the piano regularly in the Gloucestershire and Cotswolds area. One of the regular jobs I do is Christmas Day at Pukrup Hall in Tewkesbury which I always enjoy. Besides this, the county provides me with a constant stream of work and gives me the opportunity to explore the many venues in this lovely county.

With so many beautiful locations there is no wonder that so many couples want to marry here. I play the piano for a lot of weddings in Gloucestershire and this is something that I really love, but I also perform for a variety of other events. These events include store openings, art exhibitions, private parties, and outdoor events.

The Music

Gloucestershire has a thriving jazz scene and my work as a pianist has benefited from this. In fact, there are quite a few clubs and restaurants dedicated to jazz, including The Daffodil and The Victory Club in Cheltenham. I have a real passion for jazz and it is this genre that I am mostly associated with.

However, I don’t just play jazz. Because so much of my work in Gloucestershire consists of weddings, I have to be able to play many other styles. These styles include pop, blues, rock, Latin, classical, ragtime, and sing-a-long. Moreover, my music ranges from Debussy and Albeniz to Fat’s Domino and Gary Barlow. Being versatile means that I can provide music for every part of your wedding day or event.

Working as a Sing-along Pianist in Gloucestershire

A recent trend in Gloucestershire has resulted in me being hired as a sing-along pianist for quite a lot events. Surprisingly, this is quite popular for weddings and other formal events. However, it is mostly associated with Wartime and Cockney events.

When I am booked for a singalong event I provide all the song sheets and all other equipment. I also dress as a typical Cockney pianist would have done in the early part of the last century. This consists of a Bowler hat, waistcoat, grandad shirt, pocket watch, etc.

For more information about my sing-along work, please visit my singalong page. Alternatively, visit my other website at www.uksingalongpianist.co.uk.

Different Line-ups

I performs in and around Gloucestershire both as a solo pianist and with various other line-ups. A line-up can be provided that will match both your budget and space at the venue. Here is the full list of line-ups available:

a) Duo – piano and vocals or piano and bass
b) Trio – piano, bass and vocals or piano, bass and drums
c) Quartet – piano, bass, drums and vocals or piano, bass, drums and sax
d) Five Piece Jazz Band – piano, bass, drums, sax and vocals

Whether you book me as a solo pianist or the full jazz band, you will find that I try and make the music entertaining. I hope that this quality makes the music sit comfortably in any wedding, social event, or party. In addition, I hope that it will add colour to your event without drowning conversation.

The Baby Grand Piano Shell

There are very few venues in Gloucestershire that have a piano, so pianists usually use a digital piano. This work really well as they sound excellent and can be set up anywhere. However, most people like to see a proper piano, especially at formal events. I have the answer in my baby grand piano shell. This looks great and discretely houses a normal digital piano. The shell transforms a digital piano into a centerpiece.

I charge an extra £80 on top of my normal fee for the baby grand piano shell and it can be set up anywhere.
